Introduction.

The manufacturing industry plays an outsized role in Malaysia’s economic growth and has done so for the past four decades. According to the World Bank (2021), the value-added from the manufacturing sector contributed 22.7%, up from 10.6% in the 1960s. The manufacturing sector is indispensable for the countries’ development and the products and services produced have changed the ways of life. This rapid change has been accompanied by the generation of huge amounts of waste, which signals a need for a more holistic and efficient way of production.
